cef721e0d5 um: Store full CSGSFS and SS register from mcontext
Doing this allows using registers as retrieved from an mcontext to be
pushed to a process using PTRACE_SETREGS.

It is not entirely clear to me why CSGSFS was masked. Doing so creates
issues when using the mcontext as process state in seccomp and simply
copying the register appears to work perfectly fine for ptrace.

d1d7f01f7c um: mark rodata read-only and implement _nofault accesses
Mark read-only data actually read-only (simple mprotect), and
to be able to test it also implement _nofault accesses. This
works by setting up a new "segv_continue" pointer in current,
and then when we hit a segfault we change the signal return
context so that we continue at that address. The code using
this sets it up so that it jumps to a label and then aborts
the access that way, returning -EFAULT.

It's possible to optimize the ___backtrack_faulted() thing by
using asm goto (compiler version dependent) and/or gcc's (not
sure if clang has it) &&label extension, but at least in one
attempt I made the && caused the compiler to not load -EFAULT
into the register in case of jumping to the &&label from the
fault handler. So leave it like this for now.

5298b7cffa um: add back support for FXSAVE registers
It was reported that qemu may not enable the XSTATE CPU extension, which
is a requirement after commit 3f17fed21491 ("um: switch to regset API
and depend on XSTATE"). Add a fallback to use FXSAVE (FP registers on
x86_64 and XFP on i386) which is just a shorter version of the same
data. The only difference is that the XSTATE magic should not be set in
the signal frame.

Note that this still drops support for the older i386 FP register layout
as supporting this would require more backward compatibility to build a
correct signal frame.

3f17fed214 um: switch to regset API and depend on XSTATE
The PTRACE_GETREGSET API has now existed since Linux 2.6.33. The XSAVE
CPU feature should also be sufficiently common to be able to rely on it.

With this, define our internal FP state to be the hosts XSAVE data. Add
discovery for the hosts XSAVE size and place the FP registers at the end
of task_struct so that we can adjust the size at runtime.

Next we can implement the regset API on top and update the signal
handling as well as ptrace APIs to use them. Also switch coredump
creation to use the regset API and finally set HAVE_ARCH_TRACEHOOK.

This considerably improves the signal frames. Previously they might not
have contained all the registers (i386) and also did not have the
sizes and magic values set to the correct values to permit userspace to
decode the frame.

As a side effect, this will permit UML to run on hosts with newer CPU
extensions (such as AMX) that need even more register state.

68b9883cc1 um: Discover host_task_size from envp
When loading the UML binary, the host kernel will place the stack at the
highest possible address. It will then map the program name and
environment variables onto the start of the stack.

As such, an easy way to figure out the host_task_size is to use the
highest pointer to an environment variable as a reference.

Ensure that this works by disabling address layout randomization and
re-executing UML in case it was enabled.

This increases the available TASK_SIZE for 64 bit UML considerably.

5a6951273e um: always use the internal copy of the FP registers
When switching from userspace to the kernel, all registers including the
FP registers are copied into the kernel and restored later on. As such,
the true source for the FP register state is actually already in the
kernel and they should never be grabbed from the userspace process.

Change the various places to simply copy the data from the internal FP
register storage area. Note that on i386 the format of PTRACE_GETFPREGS
and PTRACE_GETFPXREGS is different enough that conversion would be
needed. With this patch, -EINVAL is returned if the non-native format is
requested.

The upside is, that this patchset fixes setting registers via ptrace
(which simply did not work before) as well as fixing setting floating
point registers using the mcontext on signal return on i386.

1ca1443570 um: Rely on PTRACE_SETREGSET to set FS/GS base registers
These registers are saved/restored together with the other general
registers using ptrace. In arch_set_tls we then just need to set the
register and it will be synced back normally.

Most of this logic was introduced in commit f355559cf7845 ("[PATCH] uml:
x86_64 thread fixes"). However, at least today we can rely on ptrace to
restore the base registers for us. As such, only the part of the patch
that tracks the FS register for use as thread local storage is actually
needed.

67d7c3023a kbuild: remove --include-dir MAKEFLAG from top Makefile
I added $(srctree)/ to some included Makefiles in the following commits:

 - 3204a7fb98a3 ("kbuild: prefix $(srctree)/ to some included Makefiles")
 - d82856395505 ("kbuild: do not require sub-make for separate output tree builds")

They were a preparation for removing --include-dir flag.

I have never thought --include-dir useful. Rather, it _is_ harmful.

For example, run the following commands:

  $ make -s ARCH=x86 mrproper defconfig
  $ make ARCH=arm O=foo dtbs
  make[1]: Entering directory '/tmp/linux/foo'
    HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
Error: kernelrelease not valid - run 'make prepare' to update it
    UPD include/config/kernel.release
  make[1]: Leaving directory '/tmp/linux/foo'

The first command configures the source tree for x86. The next command
tries to build ARM device trees in the separate foo/ directory - this
must stop because the directory foo/ has not been configured yet.

However, due to --include-dir=$(abs_srctree), the top Makefile includes
the wrong include/config/auto.conf from the source tree and continues
building. Kbuild traverses the directory tree, but of course it does
not work correctly. The Error message is also pointless - 'make prepare'
does not help at all for fixing the issue.

This commit fixes more arch Makefile, and finally removes --include-dir
from the top Makefile.

There are more breakages under drivers/, but I do not volunteer to fix
them all. I just moved --include-dir to drivers/Makefile.

With this commit, the second command will stop with a sensible message.

  $ make -s ARCH=x86 mrproper defconfig
  $ make ARCH=arm O=foo dtbs
  make[1]: Entering directory '/tmp/linux/foo'
    SYNC include/config/auto.conf.cmd
  ***

bfc58e2b98 um: remove process stub VMA
This mostly reverts the old commit 3963333fe676 ("uml: cover stubs
with a VMA") which had added a VMA to the existing PTEs. However,
there's no real reason to have the PTEs in the first place and the
VMA cannot be 'fixed' in place, which leads to bugs that userspace
could try to unmap them and be forcefully killed, or such. Also,
there's a bit of an ugly hole in userspace's address space.

Simplify all this: just install the stub code/page at the top of
the (inner) address space, i.e. put it just above TASK_SIZE. The
pages are simply hard-coded to be mapped in the userspace process
we use to implement an mm context, and they're out of reach of the
inner mmap/munmap/mprotect etc. since they're above TASK_SIZE.

Getting rid of the VMA also makes vma_merge() no longer hit one of
the VM_WARN_ON()s there because we installed a VMA while the code
assumes the stack VMA is the first one.

It also removes a lockdep warning about mmap_sem usage since we no
longer have uml_setup_stubs() and thus no longer need to do any
manipulation that would require mmap_sem in activate_mm().

b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

Commit a78ff1112263 ("um: add extended processor state save/restore

build UML nor run it anymore with these two commits applied because we
don't have definitions for struct _xstate nor these two ptrace requests.

We can determine at build time which fp context structure to check

PTRACE_GETRESET/SETREGSET are not defined.

dd93938a92 x86/arch_prctl: Rename 'code' argument to 'option'
The x86 specific arch_prctl() arbitrarily changed prctl's 'option' to
'code'. Before adding new options, rename it.

a78ff11122 um: add extended processor state save/restore support
This patch extends save_fp_registers() and restore_fp_registers() to use
PTRACE_GETREGSET and PTRACE_SETREGSET with the XSTATE note type, adding
support for new processor state extensions between context switches.

When the new ptrace requests are unavailable, it falls back to the old
PTRACE_GETFPREGS and PTRACE_SETFPREGS methods, which have been renamed to
save_i387_registers() and restore_i387_registers().

Now these functions expect *fp_regs to have the space of an _xstate struct.
Thus, this also makes ptrace in UML responde to PTRACE_GETFPREGS/_SETFPREG
requests with a user_i387_struct (thus independent from HOST_FP_SIZE), and
by calling save_i387_registers() and restore_i387_registers() instead of
the extended save_fp_registers() and restore_fp_registers() functions.

ad32a1f3c3 um: use %lx format specifiers for unsigned longs
static analysis from cppcheck detected %x being used for
unsigned longs:

[arch/x86/um/os-Linux/task_size.c:112]: (warning) %x in format
string (no. 1) requires 'unsigned int' but the argument type
  is 'unsigned long'.

Use %lx instead of %x

b5c04da022 um: prctl: Do not include linux/ptrace.h
On recent toolchains we hit:
In file included from arch/x86/um/os-Linux/prctl.c:7:0:
/usr/include/linux/ptrace.h:58:8: error: redefinition of ‘struct
ptrace_peeksiginfo_args’ struct ptrace_peeksiginfo_args {
        ^
In file included from arch/x86/um/os-Linux/prctl.c:6:0:
/usr/include/sys/ptrace.h:191:8: note: originally defined here
 struct ptrace_peeksiginfo_args
        ^
make[2]: *** [arch/x86/um/os-Linux/prctl.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [arch/x86/um/os-Linux] Error 2
make: *** [arch/x86/um] Error 2

The solution is not to include linux/ptrace.h and obtain
the arch specific ptrace command from asm/ptrace.h.
